Cozy place for a pet from an old sweater

Not so long ago we wrote about the tent for the cat. Judging by the reaction to Facebook, you really liked it. But not all pets like to hide in the "house", many prefer to see everything that happens around and in general be visible. For this reason, I tried to find something cool and creative for all those animals who love to show themselves.

This soft mat is simple to make with your own hands and is ideal for your dog or cat. You have the opportunity to please yourself and your pet with just a few tools. Finally, he will have his own place. I tried to write explanations for the pictures, at the same time I know that everything will be clear to you without them.

I sincerely hope that you will like it, at least as much as the cat house, but here you will need to embroider a little. This should not frighten you, if only because it will be used only the basic line, without a sewing machine. I know that I want to postpone it for a day off or any other day, but do not postpone for tomorrow what you can do today!

After all, it is a great pleasure to do something with your own hands, to please your pet and show us photos of what you have done.

What you need

  • Scissors
  • Wool thread
  • Thick sewing needle
  • Meter
  • Pin (optional chalk and ruler)

  • Old sweater
  • Filler (any pieces of fabric, you can even synthetics)
  • Filler for pillow or pillow (45cm x 45cm)
  • Fabric flap (for the joint of two sleeves)

Prepare all the tools and materials, lay on the floor or on the table.

Getting Started

Turn the sweater inside out. Collect the edges of the collar and stitch them as shown in the picture, you can use the machine if you want faster. Leave a small piece open.

Stretch the sweater with your fingers and mark a straight line from one armpit to the other. If you prefer to use chalk (or soap) and a ruler, draw a line. Sew the front and back of the sweatshirt by following this line. Remove pins.

Place the sleeves along the body and sew (as shown in the figure). Cuffs do not sew.

Fill the sleeves with a filler to form the edges of our lounger.

Inside the "belly" place a pillow or a filler prepared for this.

Sew the bottom of the front and back of the sweater as shown in the picture. You can use a sewing machine.

Sew the cuffs together and place a piece of fabric on top. The fabric should cover both cuffs, sew it with a regular stitch.

Now get a pet to enjoy your new bed.
